Pre-feasibility Study for District Cooling
Pre-feasibility study for district cooling system implementation in the Medellin Innovation District. Medellín Innovation District is a project of urban renewal, social and economic transformation of interest for the future development and projection of a leading city such as Medellin. In the area of172 hectares it is expected to create about 28,000 quality jobs, as well as the urban development of an area of more than 1,500,000 sqm built space.
The assessed the possibilities for implementing District Cooling (DC) area, dealing with several different technological configurations. With fully implemented DC in Distrito Medellín – 13,000-14,000 TR cooling capacity (45-49 MW), a reduction of 430 kg / year (R11 equivalent) of ozone-depleting substances and more than 17,000 tons of CO2eq is expected.
